There’s going to be a country-western night at The Wharf on DC’s Southwest Waterfront, open to the public, on Friday, June 10, and the Rawhides will be in attendance! The evening kicks off at 7, when we’ll be giving a line dance lesson and a two-step tutorial. That will be followed by two-stepping to music by the Wil Gravatt Band.
This free event will run until 9, and all are welcome. Come for the dancing, come for the live music, or come to watch. See you there?
Join us for our first dance at our new location, the North Hall at Eastern Market, at 7th Street and North Carolina Avenue, S.E., two blocks north of the Eastern Market Metro station. We’ll be there Saturday, May 28, from 7 till 11. There will be a cash bar.
The line dance line-up for the evening includes The Wolf, Shivers, Church Clap, Waltz Across Texas, Coffee, Reggae Cowboy, Dizzy, Chill Factor, Wobble, Canadian Stomp, Cowboy Cha-Cha, and Shake Yourself Loose.
Time: Saturday, May 28, 7pm-11pm Location: Eastern Market North Hall, 225 7th St. SE, Washington DC 20003 Admission: $5
Let’s dance into Spring! Jon will be teaching a line dance that is brand new for us: Gives Me Shivers (step sheet and demos at Copper Knob). Jay and Daniel will deejay. Come to learn; come to dance; come to watch. Visit with true friends and make new ones. We are inclusive, affirming and fun.
The new year started with bad weather and the omnicron surge, so we are going to reset 2022. Vinaya will be the deejay. Regais will be teaching Cupid Shuffle and the Wobble. Come to learn, come to dance, come to watch. Visit with good friends and make new ones. Lesson from 7 to 8pm. Three hours of open dancing follow: two-step, waltz, line dancing and west coast swing.
Time: Friday, February 25, 7pm-11pm Location: Hook Hall, 3400 Georgia Ave NW, Washington, DC 20010 Cost: Free to enter Hook Hall, $5 to enter dance floor
The November 12 and November 26 (“Turkey Blahs Blaster”) dances will be the last of 2021. We will soon be sharing dates for dances in 2022, every other Friday, from January into the spring!
When planning to attend a Hooked on Country event, remember that DC currently has a mask mandate. Masks must be worn inside venues unless one is actively eating or drinking. We appreciate your cooperation!
Don’t miss our next dance, or you’ll be green with envy! Join DC Rawhides’ “Country Goes Zoom!” with line dances hosted by Chauncey, Saturday, March 6, from 8:00 till 10:00. Terrence will be teaching “Timber”. Find the step sheet at Copper Knob.
