New Dance Dates Added

New dates have been added to the event calendar for April, May, and June, with the addition of dancing at Trade Night Club on February 26 and at the Wharf on July 3 (ignore the 7/7 in the graphic). In addition to the following. we’ll continue to have line dancing parties at Pitchers on the last Sunday of each month.

North Hall is on Capitol Hill at the the northern end of Eastern Market, 225 7th St, NE, Washington. Our wonderful Glen Echo dances take place at Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, in Glen Echo, Maryland, in the old Bumper Car Pavilion. Pitchers Bar is in Adams Morgan at 2317 18th St. NW, Washington. More info about the remaining dances is to come. Trade Night Club in Logan Circle as at 1410 14th St., NW, Washington.

Dancing at Eastern Market, Saturday, February 7

Country Western Dancing, North Hall, Eastern Market, 2/7. 21 and up, valid ID required, $10 suggested donation at the door. Darrell deejays, Kevin teaches.

Come dance with us! At 7, Kevin teaches Crème Brûlée, a 32-count beginner four-wall line dance (tutorial). Open dancing starts at 8. The door opens early for those who want to get some practice in.

Our goal is to be welcoming, affirming, and fun—to create a dance space where all levels can participate. Schedule in is on our Facebook banner, Instagram story highlights, and webpage. If we reach capacity, no one is admitted until others leave. We will post a notice to social media when this happens. Tips to ensure everyone has a good time and stays safe: If you attend, please follow dance etiquette so that everyone can have the best and safest dance experience:  follow the line of dance (counter clockwise ); no drinks on the dance floor; slower dancers in the middle; don’t stand on the dance floor; dance what the deejay calls; if you don’t know a line dance, do not get in the way of those who do; do not touch anyone in a way they might consider inappropriate. 

Eastern Market Dance, Saturday, July 26

Come dance with us on July 26! Come to learn; come to see old friends and make new one; or just come to watch and hang out. Feel free to drop in as early as 6:30pm if you want to practice or would like some help with two-step or a particular line dance. Tyler will teach the line dance “Caliente” at 7:00 pm. At 8:00 pm, Mindy and Leah will spin music for three hours of open dancing.

Our dance angels will take anyone on the floor who is learning or needs a partner, so no experience is necessary.

We have a suggested $10 donation at the door (credit cards with a small service charge added). Larger donations are accepted, appreciated, and help us keep dancing. We’ll have free pizza while it lasts and full bar service. All bar purchases must be made by debit or credit card. You must be 21 to enter. Regardless of age, everyone must show an ID and pass security to enter. The dance is run by a not-for-profit.

DC Rawhides at The Wharf

There’s going to be a country-western night at The Wharf on DC’s Southwest Waterfront, open to the public, on Friday, June 10, and the Rawhides will be in attendance! The evening kicks off at 7, when we’ll be giving a line dance lesson and a two-step tutorial. That will be followed by two-stepping to music by the Wil Gravatt Band.

This free event will run until 9, and all are welcome. Come for the dancing, come for the live music, or come to watch. See you there?

First Dance at Eastern Market, Saturday, May 28

Join us for our first dance at our new location, the North Hall at Eastern Market, at 7th Street and North Carolina Avenue, S.E., two blocks north of the Eastern Market Metro station. We’ll be there Saturday, May 28, from 7 till 11. There will be a cash bar.

Jon B. will teach the line dance “The Wolf” (demos and tutorials at CopperKnob; demo by our Daniel J.) from 7 till 8. Open dancing with DJ Pam will start after that.

The line dance line-up for the evening includes The Wolf, Shivers, Church Clap, Waltz Across Texas, Coffee, Reggae Cowboy, Dizzy, Chill Factor, Wobble, Canadian Stomp, Cowboy Cha-Cha, and Shake Yourself Loose.
