Eastern Market Dance and “Battle for the Belt” Line Dance Competition, Saturday, September 6

Come dance with us on Saturday, September 6! Come to learn; come to see old friends and make new one; or just come to watch and hang out. Feel free to drop in as early as 6:30 pm if you want to practice or would like some help with two-step or a particular line dance. Paul and Alec will teach two-step at 7:00 pm. At 8:00 pm, Mindy and Leah will spin music for three hours of open dancing.

This dance will feature the fourth iteration of “Battle for the Belt.” Wear a numbered bib and dance all the line dances. There is a junior and senior division. Those who place earn a trophy. The winner in the senior division takes home the belt. Battle for the Belt will in no way disrupt the normal dancing.

Graphic: Country Western Dancing, North Hall, Eastern Market, 9/6, "It's Battle for the Belt". 21 and up, valid ID required, $10 suggested donation at the door. Paul and Alec teach two-step.

Our dance angels will take anyone on the floor who is learning or needs a partner, so no experience is necessary.

We have a suggested $10 donation at the door (credit cards with a small service charge added). Larger donations are accepted, appreciated, and help us keep dancing. We’ll have free pizza while it lasts and full bar service. All bar purchases must be made by debit or credit card. You must be 21 to enter. Regardless of age, everyone must show an ID and pass security to enter. The dance is run by a not-for-profit.

Our goal is to be affirming and fun, to create a dance space where all levels can participate. If you attend, please follow dance etiquette so that everyone can have the best and safest dance experience:

  • For two-step, waltz, and shadow, follow the line of dance (counterclockwise).
  • No drinks on the dance floor.
  • Slower dancers in the middle.
  • Don’t stand on the dance floor.
  • Dance what the deejay calls.
  • If you don’t know a line dance, do not get in the way of those who do.
  • Do not touch anyone in a manner that they might consider inappropriate.
